If the other suggestions that you receive don't work,
or in the meantime, fill some plastic containers
(hopefully you have some room in the fridge), set them
outside to freeze, and place as many as possible in
the fridge and freezer.

I used to do this while living in a log cabin in NH
and because of frequent power outages.  It reduced my
electricity consumption so much that the power company
thought I had tinkered with the meter, and replaced it
a few times before I let them know what I was doing.
