RE: [A/S] F250 PSD Mileage
Tom - I have an '02 PSD, Crew Cab, Short Bed but no 4WD. Around
town or on the highway I get around 17.0 to 17.3 MPG. Towing the 27'
Safari, usually loaded with potable water & one or two beers, the
mileage goes to 16.0, but so far I've only towed around fairly flat
Texas, never into the real mountains. I haven't done anything special
with filters or chips, yet, as the dealer always points out that I could
void my 100,000 mi. warranty. I try to keep my tow speed around 60 to 65
MPH on the Interstate, just taking it easy & enjoying seeing the
countryside. Would I consider another tow vehicle? No. It's that simple.
That PSD is just fantastic in terms of power to do the job without a
strain. I've talked to several folks who use the same truck, with a
gooseneck, to make their living hauling/delivering commercial loads
around Texas & adjoining states. None recommend getting into anything
exotic or offbeat to increase mileage or power. Though all do recommend
the brake enhancement.
