 You are doing OK, in my book. Keep your foot out of it and you can probably
do a bit better. Also, I've heard that Fords are like most other Diesels,
they don't really get broken in for at least 25,000 miles.

You shouldn't need the fuel additive, and I'd toss the K&N for the reasons
stated by others. If you don't believe it, run that filter for 20 or
30-thousand miles, then pull the boot on the turbo inlet and look at the
blades. I did, and that's why my Amsoil filter went into the trash.
