Doug,

It's a darned if you do and darned if you don't either way with the 
pleated day/night shades.  The manufacturer recommends they be stored 
up to preserve the pleats. In the summer leaving the shades up exposes 
the the curtains and those cute little plastic guides to sun deterioration 
and adds quite a bit to the heat load buildup in the coach. For the folks 
with pull shades and blinds the best bet is to keep them down when the 
coach is not in use.
