[A/S] Re: Tow 34' wide body with 6 liter GMC
Perry,
You're gonna love it! Even with a 3.73:1 ratio, which will save fuel
and your nerves and engine wear with lower rpms, your new truck will
have about as much pullng power in OD (5th), as your old one did
shifted down to Drive... and almost as much in Drive (4th) as your
old one had in 2nd!
You WILL want 4WD to put all that torque to the ground! Even with
limited slip, your rear wheels will break loose pretty easily with a
bit too much throttle.
Diesel fuel is everywhere... especially out in the boonies... just
remember that all green-handled pumps aren't diesel! You'll quickly
learn that you get a warm, fuzzy feeling when you see it spilled
around the pump (doesn't evaporate quickly like gas), and smell it...
you've got the right pump!
Today's diesels burn pretty cleanly. Not a lot of smell unless your
windows are open at a stop and a tailwind blows a bit in the cab.
And the Chebby is about as quite as they get.
Hope this helps.
