Two things to consider.
The axles are mounted to reinforced hard points on the frame which are located by a jig when the frame is assembled. It would be extra ordinary for the axle position fore and aft to be incorrect.
Adjustment is provided for toe in/out, camber and caster by cold bending the axle.
Tire specified sizes (e.g.. 700-15) can and do vary by manufacturer particularly with bias ply tires. The bias size did not specify a height like a radial tire does. A radial, ST235/75R15 defines the
width (235), the height by ratio (75% of width), construction (R for radial) and inside diameter or wheel size. An inch or more of variation in overall tire diameter is not unheard of.
