  My Safari ('97) has the detector hard wired from the battery with a fuse in-line 
right at the battery (a heck of a place to get at).  I'm lucky in that I have installed 
a RV outlet within reach of the place where I park the A/S, so I can keep everything 
charged - even in winter.  Makes a nice "retreat", too.
