OK,
Let's assume that I get this puppy apart.  What's on
the insides?  Is there a fuse or other switch that I
can turn this thing off when in storage?  Again my gut
feeling tells me that the answer is no, since the
litigators might find A/S liable if we are allowed to
deal with this ourselves.  As I continue to ponder I
would guess that the fuse is probably somewhere close
to the fuse or converter area.  You need to protect
the entire wire and having a fuse close to the
detector itself would not protect the wiring path
against a short.  My guess is that the fuse is
probably somewhere near the voltage converter.  That
means pulling the sofa, or folding it flat and using
mirrors.  :)  I haven't figured out how to get to it
yet.
