[A/S] tow vehicle choice

We have a 34' Excella that we think we will be buying a tow vehicle 
for...our considerations are gas mileage and pulling power.

We will use it both for towing and traveling without the trailer.

I have seen lots of posts in regard to tow vwhicles, but don't recall 
a question about the best milaeage on a big engine, which is my main 
question.

We are open to either gas or diesel.
