Scarcely anyone who has a diesel ever goes back to gas.  Chevy's new 
diesel is setting sales records, and everyone I speak to about 
their's raves about it.  Note, however, that the 3500 is no longer 
the "one ton" - as I understand it there is now a 3/4 ton 2500 and a 
one ton 2500.  The current 3500 is likely to be overkill for any pull-
behind Airstream.

Both Ford and Dodge have announced new diesel engines to be 
introduced fairly soon.  Much more horsepower, more torque, much 
quieter.

You can pull with anything longer than a standard cab short bed - but 
the longer the wheelbase the more you will like it.  Club cab or even 
crew cabs have long wheelbases.  Get a full size bed and they are 
longer yet, plus you can usually get more fuel capacity.  Of course a 
crew cab with a long bed can actually qualify for its own zip code!

Dual wheels are great - until you go to park the thing.  I am not 
sure which way I would go.  I guess it would depend on how much I 
needed the truck when not towing.  With singles I sure would not 
skimp on tires!
