Re: [A/S] Inteli-Power
Thomas,
The eMeter is a multi-function device, measuring current (Amps) in and
out of the battery, battery voltage, and Amp-Hours in and out of the
battery, along with a "state of charge" display, based on the AH usage
vs. the capacity of your battery(s). This latter is the most useful
function:
You tell the eMeter the capacity of your battery bank in AH. As you use
juice, the display shows that numerically, and extinguishes the 4 LEDs
at the top, one at a time, then turning them orange and red as the
battery nears depletion. This latter function is NOT based on simple
battery voltage, but on the actual usage.
It's very nice when boondocking, as you can tell how low your battery
bank is getting long before the lights start to dim or more importantly,
before you start doing damage to the batteries by over-discharging.
The "Amps" display is nice to see how much you're charging your battery
bank with whatever source you have, along with how much current each
light or other device is actually drawing. The "Volts" display will give
you a backup on the state of charge if you know what voltage equates to
what charge percentage.
Basically, it's a sophisticated "battery fuel guage", if you will.
