That is good advise on a unit that old to change the entire 7 way 
cable, they do get pretty brittle after 30 or 40 years don't they.

If ever happen to be changing the plug and cable again you can 
purchase it all together with a molded plug on 6' of cable, this is 
what all the new ones have.  It makes for a very neat instalation and 
the molded plugs seem to last longer than the separate ones.  Your 
dealer may have to order one in but they are available to him.

They also make the combination plug and cable for the tow vehicle but 
I don't care for this one because the cover on the plastic plugs 
allow the trailer end to be pulled out to easily.  The Bargman Brand 
metal plug (not an imitation) seems to have the best holding power on 
the tow vehicle side.
