       I am a retired State and National Park Ranger from California and have 
worked law enforcement in about 20 parks, including supervising the highest 
law enforcement park in California. 99.9% of the personal crimes occurred in 
situations where people knew each other. The other .1% could have been 
avoided if people diplomatically avoided the situation and just left. 
       I used to remind my rangers that when Ronald Reagan was Governor of 
California, he closed the funny farms. The funny people are still out there. 
Also, nobody ever thinks about it but even bad guys take vacations.   
       You don't have to be a part of their issues if you just leave the park 
and have a nice day somewhere else. 
       My wife and I have camped in all types of parks (frequently isolated) 
in Canada, Mexico and the Western States for at least 30 years and recall 
leaving three different times when our neighbors were having loud arguments, 
or it appeared that a party was developing and we didn't feel like being 
involved with it.
