[A/S] Refrigerator

Hi Thomas,

Why are you limiting your options?

If your frig MIGHT need to be replaced, does this mean fixing it isn't in
the cards? If your only choice is to buy a new one, you must have green to
burn (say like to the tune of $1,000 plus).

Your words were, "The last thing I want to have happen is to have it fixed
and then have it go kaput in the middle of a trip."

Thomas, if your Dometic goes kaput in the middle of a trip, spend a few
bucks at Walmarts for an ice chest and $2 at a grocery store for ice.

During the rest of your trip, use the refrigerators in grocery stores for
supplying what you need. Just buy smaller quantities and stay away from
frozen ice cream bars.

Then, take your time (or wait until you get home) and call the Dometic 800
number for a refrigerator repair place near you and have it fixed again.

Or better yet, go to the VAC archives, look up what the rest of us have done
and become your own expert. Forewarned is forearmed. If the electric part
works, the chances of fixing the propane part are excellent, especially if
you've done your homework and have bought a few components for your "stash
locker" (that old trunk you used when you went to summer camp).

Anytime something goes wrong (or might go wrong), you have a choice either
to grumble or to treat it as an opportunity to creatively solve the problem.
As I see it, there's no contest, so bring on the adventure and have a good
time with it. <grin>
