The underbelly on the '62 Land Yacht that I owned years ago was
enclosed with sheets of aluminum, which covered batts of
fiberglass insulating material.  This was well and good, until a
leak developed in the drain piping (no gray water tank in those
years).  Apparently, the piping was not supported adequately to
withstand the "freeway hop" effect.  Upshot was that I had to
drill out umpteen rivets, dismantle the insulation batts, dry
them, rebuild the drain line, and then fit everything in this jig
saw puzzle back together, last step being to set umpteen pop
rivets while lying on back and holding sheet aluminum in place.  I
was ready for Miller time when that job was over.  Even so, I
think the covered underbelly is a good deal - provides some
protection against vermin entry, roadway dust, etc.
