My towing experience with car was a few years ago, but the description is similar. My 
car was a 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury (full size car) with a 440 ci engine. It was 
considered necessary then and I would certainly recommend it now to use an equalizer 
hitch of some type.  The difference between dry weight 4250 and GVWR of 5000 lb. is 
unusually small. 750 lb. goes fast when we start packing our "stuff" to go camping.
