Hi

I recently had a spare tire unit placed under the front of my 78' Ambassador 
- 27'.

It was done by the dealer in Delaware.  I rolled under the Airstream on a 
creeper just to see what it looked like and how it would be activated if I 
were to need it.  I found that they installed it with an 1 1/2" gap between 
the floor and the frame of the spare tire unit.  This gap ran parallel on 
each side.  You could actually touch the insulation
on each side.  I was told that they had installed hundreds of these units in 
this way.
I asked if they would seal off the gap on each side.  They did so.  There was 
no charge for the work to seal it after a short discussion.
