Re: [A/S] OPD Propane Cylinder Conversion
Jim Excellent post on how to remove valves. I have had good luck
using peppermint oil as penetrating oil. Loosing the valve by hitting
with a hammer can damage the tank and is somewhat of an art, take
your time. The post about $6.00 a hr. Propane expert is very true go
to a shop which has experience with removing threaded fittings.
I rebuilt my heater in my 68 Globetrotter and was given so much bad
information by the manufacture and the RV dealer it was sad. Their
solution was to install a new unit. I hydroed the tank replaced the
safety installed a new Propane control vale and thermocouple and it
works perfectly. I did this not to save money but to retain the
original look and feel. The Aluminum tank for the heater was
perfect.
What I found interesting in my area was that a RV tech to set up a
Weight Dist. Hitch was $65.00 a hr. The owner told me it was real
tricky to setup. I had already read the instructions and asked what
read a tape measure.
