Can't help you with the aluminum issue other than to say that I've seen
several posts from individuals refused to fill the aluminum tanks -
especially if they hadn't had the hydrostatic test done each 12 years.  My
steel tanks are in the same situation.  I can't have them retrofitted
because they weren't tested as prescribed by law.  Not a huge deal at $50-60
a tank, but certainly disappointing.

With the Safari, I had to cut the old mounting bracket of the "A" frame and
reposition it so the Hensley hitch would position properly.  Did a lot of
reinforcing of the receiver and replaced the lower support for the tongue
jack.  Not great overhead welding, but it's together and painted!

Good to see you back on-line.  Really missed your great posts.

I went with the 2002 F250 crew cab 4X4 diesel.  Just have the tool box on
the back right now, but will have a matching cap when the $s come a bit
easier.  Haven't done any towing with it as my Safari still isn't road
worthy.  However, sure like the fuel mileage when it's on the road (19-20).
The local is about 14 and near what I get on the road with van.  The van
drops to 11 for the local runs.  Sure learned a lot about changing 15 quarts
of oil, etc.

How's the law student's Airstream doing?
