Dry cleaning is the only safe way to go.  Obviously, drapes could be made to
be washable, but most are not.

The problems associated with washing include destroying the stiffening
(heading) in the top, which is often a starched fabric (which will lose its
stiffness if washed) and the shrinkage of either or both the drapery fabric
and/or the lining.  Of course, the dye could run too.

Play it safe and dry clean them.
