1. Unless it is particularly cold at the time ( minus temps) the residual heat in the 
coach will keep everything safe until you get situated. The furnace is not designed to 
operate while on the road. It may but don't count on it.
2. While it is true that heated air is circulated around the holding tanks, there is 
no heat in the trunk area that encloses the sewer drain lines. But it is  not needed 
there either. Even in very cold situations the drain lines, hooked up to the park 
sewer system will not normally freeze. You can leave the gray water tank valve open 
while hooked up. Use the black tank according to directions, draining it when it is 
full or nearly full. Insure the city water line is heat taped to include the pipe on 
the coach. With the furnace running your coach will be ok in minus temps.
3. The air conditioner cover is primarily to protect the hard AC shroud from sun 
deterioration. Don't worry about it on the trip. In truth it is iffy to travel with it 
on.
4. Your understanding of controlling the trailer on icy roads is correct. With a 
correctly setup hitch it is unlikely to happen, even on snow packed and icy roads with 
chains on the tow vehicle. Nothing like a Dec run from Boise, ID to Great Falls, MT to 
figure that out.
