Re: [A/S] Lock

Hi Joy

Yes, you did miss something. I should have said up front that my deadbolt
does not extend very far into the catch plate. I have the electronic
deadblolt, which is REALLY GREAT from a convenience standpoint, but a poor
performer when it comes to holding the door closed on a rough road. It only
extends maybe a quarter inch or so when I activate it, and the Alaskan
roads were able to get past it.

Sorry I didn't mention that up front. Normally, deadbolts are very
effective. The others I have had on previous Airstreams (non-electrronic)
would have kept that door closed no matter what.

If anyone doesn't know what the electronic deadbolt is: I have an
electronic keypad on the outside of the trailer and push a combination of
numbers into it. When it gets the right numbers a little motor activates
the deadbolt and slides it back, unlocking the door. Another combination
locks it when we leave. We still have keys and could use them if the power
failed or the motor broke.
