Charlie, small runs do not have to be expensive. In the case of 
Vintage British Sports Cars, such as Austin Healy's, MG's, Triumph's 
and others parts are down right cheap. Many of the parts are small 
runs and manufactured by small British firms. Latches and locks are 
fairly typical devices. A current lock / latch should be available at 
a reasonable cost; even with a modifications to make it fit a vintage 
unit. $506.00 for a lock/latch is excessive no matter what your 
budget.
