That's the first thing my Bro-in-law said when he saw our '98 Bambi - It has 
a suicide door!.

Of course, it's only a suicide door if you are riding in the trailer and 
happen to open the door.  It does seem that it could cause an accident if it 
came open while under tow.  
I can't see any practical reason for the door to open on that side - can 
someone else?
