I think the opening of the door has to do with the placement of the 
windows. Also the door is often in a stored open postion and may have 
presented a problem with smaller trailers which would of had the door 
placed closer to the front, thus blocking a front window. Also, I 
think that framing of the trailer may have something to do with it, 
the center section will be the strongest to hang a door on. My 2 
cents.
