Re: [A/S] Proper axle ratio
Don't know about all this horsepower developing at lower RPMs. It seems
that my '02 F250 P.S. diesel develops its full power at the 2500 - 3000
rpm. I have the 3.73 rear axle and find it kind of sluggish below 2500 rpm.
Yes, it maintains speed, but . . .
I doubt that the 454 cubes could get the gas mileage I'm getting out of my
unit. The overall mileage for the first 3000 miles is 18 mpg. Highest is
22, lowest is 16 without towing. Though, I did tow a 3000 pound utility
trailer for about 600 miles of the first 3000. Keeping the speed below 65
mph seems to keep the mpg pretty high.
When I get around to towing, I'll most likely have a totally different
opinion. As for now, I'm totally satisfied.
