[A/S] Pictures on the walls.

I want to "hang" pictures too, but not sure what type of fasteners 
are the best...I don't want to mar the walls and that gripping tape 
might pull off the vinyl no?  If I put a double stick mounting tape 
on the rear of my oven which presents itself in the bedroom won't the 
heat when the oven is on be a problem with the tape?
