The "industry standard" method to winterize
"CORRECTLY" starts by using a 5 HP compressor. Drain
all the water, via the drain valves best possible.
Pressurize the system, and open one water valve or
faucet at a time. Do not open both the cold and hot
side of any faucet at the same time. Don't forget to
also flush the toilet, and drain the shower head.
Start with the one that is the greatest distance from
the air inlet AND the highest off the ground. When
pure air comes out, close that faucet or drain valve
and go to the next one. When completed, START all
over, to make super sure. When ALL the water has been
removed, take the lines off the water pump and run it
for a few seconds. Remove the water filter cartridge,
shower head, and spray head for the toilet. Add RV
type anti freeze to each "P" trap, gray tank, black
tank and water tank. Yes, when you de-winterize, you
will have to flush out the water tank. The thing to
always keep in mind, is the HARDER the freeze or the
possibilty of a hard freeze requires the most
winterizing. Using smaller compressors can work, but
are risky. It's your coach. How cautious you want to
be is your choice. Remember, especially on copper
tubing equipped coaches, that freeze damage repairs
are ALWAYS expensive and a big pain, because they will
haunt you for years to come.  Max
