Norma,

I haven't checked, but I feel certain that you could get a red toner to do a
candy apple red paint job.  The politically correct toner may not have as
much zap as the old stuff, but it should work  reasonably well.  Don't let
that stop you.  Candy finishes are not limited to red, though.

Since you live in California, you have access to some very competent "Custom
Car" painters who are experienced with candy type finishes.  [Which take
substantial skill to get an even tone  (non streaky) candy effect.]  The Los
Angeles area, in particular,  has some of the best custom or specialty
painters around.
