Bill and Julie, I cannot specifically address your year and model trailer on 
location of valves, but will give some general information.  I have blown my 
trailer with a small 12 volt air compressor and got acceptable results.  You 
should drain as much water as possible from the system, including the fresh 
water tank.   Should also bypass the water heater.  You can purchase the 
valve you need to pressurize your water system at Wal*Mart.  It screws into 
your hose connection and has an air valve.  After draining the system, close 
all the faucets and drains and then pressurize the system.  Go to the 
farthest faucet or drain and open it.  Keep repeating the process with all 
the faucets and drains until you get no water.  I don't think the 1970 manual 
would have mentioned antifreeze, because I don't think it was widely used at 
that time.  I bought my first antifreeze in the mid-70s and it was much more 
expensive than it is now.  I would recommend using antifreeze after blowing 
out the system.  This will give you a little added assurance that the system 
is ready for freezing winter.  Don't forget the water lines to your stool.  

As I recall, my first Airstream's manual didn't even mention blowing out the 
system.  It said to open all the valves and lower the tongue jack to the 
bottom and allow the water to drain.  It then said to raise the jack to the 
full height and again allow to drain.  I followed these instructions, but 
followed the process by blowing out the lines.
