 It sounds like you have an antique. Don't power any 12VDC appliance
from it, ever. That thing is suitable for the lights and fans and that's
it.

"If it were me" (<<grin>>), I'd junk that thing and install an
Inteli-Power converter with charge wizard. Both output lines from the
existing UniVolt would be tied together and connected to the IP's output
and to the battery.

However, you can do whatever pleases you best. :-)
