A "univolt" as used by Airstream in the 1964 models,
IS NOT THE UNIVOLT of today. The 1964 univolt is
nothing more than a AC transformer with a dual voltage
output, consisting of 12 vac and 19 vac, and IT IS NOT
A BATTERY CHARGER. The 12 volts went to the lights and
the 19 volts went to the vent motors. A 12 volt light
bulb works equally well on 12 volts dc or ac. But, a
12 volt DC motor, if used on ac, must have 19 volts
supplied to it, to function correctly. The "EFFECTIVE
DC" voltage of 19 volts AC is, 13.4 volts.  Max
