   I used a wire wheel on a drill to clean off the surface rust. It didn't 
take too long since the frame did not have much rust to begin with. The frame 
under the bathroom was the worst but still stong. Washed the frame with dish 
soap ,rinsed it off let it dry overnight and painted on the Hammerite.  The 
Hammerite can be gotten at Home Depot. They carry a coupla other brands of 
rust inhibbiter also,but the instore paint guru said that in his opinion the 
Hammerite was the best. The price of the Hammerite was about in the middle 
for such products. The Hammerite has a cool blue/green color to it ,but the 
sun will mess up the exposed parts so a UV resistant top coat is recommended. 
The Hammerite seals and prevents further rust formation and is pretty chip 
resistant. I banged on the treated sufface with a hammer with no effects. I 
used a chissle and chipped just the area the edge came in contasct with. No 
chpping around the contact area. I used a 5 pound sledge to do the hammering 
and chipping and wailed on it pretty hard. Tough stuff. As for clean up I 
bought cheap brushes , used latex gloves and wore old clothes and tossed it 
all in the trash when I was finished.      later      Trike
