Hi Patti,

If I was in your shoes with the mindset you've described, I'd call around to
two or three RV dealers and ask to speak with the service manager. Tell him
what you told us and ask him if he can solve your situation.  Keep the
"clean/fix or buy" ideas to yourself. You're looking for his help, not
offering to tell him how to help.

By asking 2-3 different service managers, it should be obvious which know
their stuff and which should be avoided.  Or, if an RV dealer is nearby, go
there and ask to speak with the service manager. Not only will you get a
"face to face," but you'll have a chance to see their service department and
have that data in hand before making a decision.

As for what kind of new assembly, ten to one it will be more economical to
stay with the Reese (and the parts you'll need) than to jump ship in
midstream for an entirely different brand of hitch assembly.

Lastly, take your time and come back to us with what you've found out.
There is benefit to getting feedback before you plunk down your money.
Think of us (all 500 of us) as your personal consultants.
