Hi, What you just described is a problem common to all ball type 
hitches, not just AS or Reese. In most cases it is simply a matter 
of "hitch preasure". For instance, when I pull into the spot that I 
park my AS, it is slightly up hill. So when I stop my truck, I am 
holding the trailer from going backwards. I have the same trouble as 
you. I have to put blocking behind the trailer wheels and then take 
the truck out park and let in roll back towards the trailer ever so 
slightly. Probably only a 1/4 of an inch. Then the hitch will rise up 
off the ball. BUT, the advise you were given to have it checked by 
a "PRO" is good. Good luck Arnie
