Same deal in my 73 ambassador.

I caulked every seam in the vicinity, then I drilled out the rivets
holding the trim strip on, and put a LOT of Vulkem in there, and riveted
it back on. So far so good. There is a channel that the shell is bolted
to the floor and the bottom through, and that channel collects leaks
from anywhere. The frame of an AS looks like a jungle gym, and the water
plays all over it. So if you have any leaks anywhere, and the trailer is
parked with the rear lower, all water ends up back there...

Caulk everything.
