Re: [A/S] eaz-lift hitch or buy new one??

Bob,

It's really the hitch head you need most. It is the part that is inserted
into a 2" square hitch receiver mounted to the frame at the rear of your tow
vehicle. The hitch head contains the hitch ball and provisions for
attaching the w/d bars.

You didn't tell list members what you will tow with. It makes a huge
difference in determining an answer to your question. For example, if you
will tow with a car, SUV or light duty p/u, you will need at least a good
used Eaz-Lift hitch head from a yard/garage sale, used RV dealer, or RV
salvage yard. An anti-sway bar would also be recommended. Eaz-Lift is not
my first choice but it is a very old and proven product, in use by tens of
thousands of trailer pullers and completely satisfactory for your trailer
IF, you have an adequate puller. Or you could purchase a complete new hitch
assembly of another brand as you suggested. If on the other hand you will
tow what sounds like a fairly light trailer with a heavy duty 3/4 ton or one
ton p/u, you won't need anything more than a draw bar and ball hitch. A
complete weight distributing assembly and sway bar would be desirable but
not essential.
