Sorry about loosing your aluminum chocks. Nothing makes me madder
than a thieving b------d. I hope I spelled that right.

I am with Wayne about 12 volt protection. However, I have a
different take on ac protection. I plugged in at a MS State Park a
few years ago and surges zapped my Penguin a/c circuit boards. Cost
me something like $400 to replace them. I detest elegant electronic
solutions to what could be a simple approach and tried to get them
to wire the a/c's with a simple switch and thermostat arrangement.
But they wouldn't do it.

Not too much later I had to buy a new board for the fridge. I think
Wane is probably right about the isolation between 120V and the DC
side. But something inside me wants to believe that that board got
zapped at the same time as the a/c's.

I also have radio gear I want to protect.

I made an elcheapo surge protector out of MOV's ( available for $2
at most electronics stores). That rig is gone and I don't have
protection now. I probably will buy a commercial unit at wire it at
the AC panel inside the trailer.  That takes care of the security. 

Jack, please post what you decide. I would like to take advantage of
your research on the available units and prices. Sounds like you may
have already done that.
