[A/S] Air Conditioning
Hi all. We went out on our second trip with the new
Safari this weekend. The couple who bought my old
trailer are first timers so I said they could tag
along with us. Since the fellow hadn't had much
experience in backing I reserved a couple of pull
through sites.
Unfortunately the pull throughs had no shade so we sat
out in full sun. The temperatures rose to the mid
90's with humidity in the low 60% range. I think the
heat index was between 105 and 110. I found that the
13,500 BTU Duo-Therm Penguin unit could only keep the
trailer in the range of 7-10 degrees below outside air
temp. Once the sun when down we had no problems.
I checked the temperature drop across the coils and
found the difference was 20 degrees (At night the drop
is 30). My first question to my dealer was how cool
should the trailer be. He noted that the unit should
keep the trailer 15-20 degrees below outside air
temps. I told him that the drop across the coils was
20 and he then stated that within specs.
I can't see going to hot climes with this kind of
performance. This is disappointing. Have any of you
done any measurements with your A/S?
