Sarah & Steve,
I would try to operate the appliances and put the unit
under water pressure.  Asking is one thing, seeing is
another.  I sold my 14 year old Hi-Lo to a gentleman
who didn't want to try anything out.  He bought it in
the early spring.  Much to his surprise and mine too
the fridge failed due to a leak in the cooling system.
 My last usage the previous fall did not detect a
problem.  Unfortunately he got stuck for a large bill
to replace the unit.  

When I sold my last trailer I pretty much insisted
that the buyer go through each appliance with me (the
trailer was only 4 years old) to check for proper
operation and to check all water pipes and drain
lines.
I could sleep after that sale.  I still have some
feelings of guilt on the other unit.
