My 91, 2500 Customized and my friends) experience with the big block 454,
4L80E works well with the exception in 91, e.g. this model runs hot.  I have
made improvements, FloMaster mufflers (major improvement), large aluminum
finned transmission pan, transmission filter with heat monitor, transmission
cooler (even though this Burb was order with all of the heavy duty towing
package, it did not come with a transmission cooler). Pulling a 34 Ft.
Excella, the transmission failed at 68K miles.  The use of a temperature
gage is well worth the money.
