Re: [A/S] Silver Motorhomes
As with anything like this in a market economy you need customer's to buy
them and a marketable price to sell them. After spending a bunch of money on
the first(and only) redesign of the 94 Classic motorhome, the club, yes the
club killed the market. After many years of the telling people that they
could not have a "square" Airstream and be a member of the club, they changed
the rules. Well that tanked the market on the classic motorhome for at least
5 years. Airstream continued to make the classic motorhome through 1996 but
that was it. The "square" Airstream's were selling and had a "fresher" look.
The classic motorhome started in 1974 under the Argosy name. Production
continued until the 79 model year when they built the Argosy and two classic
Airstream motorhomes. One style was painted and the other was clearcoted
aluminum. Production of the clearcoted coaches continued with the same body
until 1993 when the new body was introduced. Production ceases during the
1996 model year. Sizes ranged from 20' to 36.5'.
