I think the front end of the van, which I am working on tomorrow :(  weighs 
substantially more that one ton.  I'd rather be safe than sorry.  Right now 
I'm using two old hydraulic crank jacks and then let the beast sit on stands.

Since I am beginning to fancy myself as a mechanic I just wanted to have a 
professional performing jack.  I have never seen a professional using a 
scissor jack.  Aren't they just for fixing flats?
