Tom & Barb,
 Progressive Dynamics makes the Inteli-Power converter and Charge
Wizard, and that's what you want to use to replace your old outfit. If
you measure the battery voltage when it's "plugged in", you may find
that it's above 14.5 volts, and that will "cook" the battery.

And yes, you'll need a small circuit breaker panel to replace those in
your present converter.

"UniVolt" was the name that A/S hung on their converters, but there were
at least 2 very different units that carried that moniker.
