[A/S] Tow vehichle 4x4 or 4x2?

Yes, another new owner inquiry.  I have read other list discussions 
regarding 4x4 versus 4x2 vehicles for towing older A/S.  One RV dealer's 
opinion is that 4x4 SUV's suspensions are too rigid for vintage A/S 
trailers .  He stated that damage would be inflicted to the plate frame 
(?)

I plan to go pick up our used TT soon, a round trip of over 1000 miles. 
 Please advise which of my three trucks should be equipped for the duty 
of towing  a 1964 19' Globetrotter (2890 dry weight, 385 lb. tongue 
weight).  The original brake control was a 12 volt Kelsey Hayes, I do 
not know if this is still the case.

1998 Trooper, 4x4; V6 215 HP;  4 speed auto; 5000 lb. towing cap.; 
factory installed, class III hitch

1994 Explorer 4x2; V6 170 HP; 3500 towing capacity 4 speed auto (no 
receiver hitch at this time)

1987 Dodge 150 Ram Charger 4x4 (utility truck); 5.2L V8 (318 C.I.); 3 
speed auto trans (just rebuilt); 7200 lbs. towing capacity, heavy duty 
shocks, and springs (no receiver hitch at this time)

I assume I need an electronic brake control box installed in the tow 
vehicle., as well as a wiring harness.  Which hitch is best.  What about 
sway bars?  I appreciate all informed answers based on your experiences.
