[A/S] Newbe hasn't towed yet

I really would appreciate some advice on tow vehicles. I just bought 
a 1983 31' Sovereign and own a '97 Chevy 1500. It does have a tranny 
cooler and the 350 engine. I know this is kinda small and I probably 
should have a 3/4 ton, but can't afford to trade.
If someone has had experience with pulling large trailers with 1/4 
ton pickups for short distances (Not long travel) I sure would 
appreciate their experiences.
