[A/S] Good Sam Club?

I initially thought I'd follow the old maxim about if you don't have
something good to say, ....................

The Good Sam organization is a fine business endeavor in my opinion.  I
patronize Camping World, have subscribed to "Trailer Life" for years, and
buy a Trailer Life RV Park guide reference book every year or so but I
belonged to Good Sam Club only briefly.  I joined in the summer of '94 just
prior to taking off on a several week trailering vacation thinking, as it
was said on the list, if I save a $ each night on an RV space, how can I go
wrong?

What I actually encountered was many parks only offered a Good Sam discount
if I paid in cash.  I can understand the park owner's position, he or she is
already accepting a 3%(?) discount demanded by MasterCard when I pay by
credit card but I prefer to avoid carrying a wallet full of cash when I
travel so I didn't see many rewards from membership.

And like Charlie Burke, I have almost been buried in Good Sam mailings ever
since.  Good Sam Club probably pays enough for labor to print flyers and
"personalized" letters, stuff envelopes, and postage to deliver it to simply
give me the $12 annual membership free of charge.  Maybe I'll write to them
and ask about that. <grinning>
