[A/S] Re: Good Sam Club?

> What I actually encountered was many parks only offered a Good Sam
discount if I paid in cash. I can understand the park owner's
position, he or she is already accepting a 3%(?) discount demanded by
MasterCard when I pay by credit card but I prefer to avoid carrying a
wallet full of cash when I travel so I didn't see many rewards from
membership.

That has not been my experience, Harvey...I've never had a GS
discount refused because I pay by credit card, which I always do. I
guess we travel different routes and frequent different
campgrounds. ;-)

mailings ever since.

Like most organizations today, including Camping World and just
about every charitable or political organization I know of, they send
mail solicitations for their business parts; and, I think, the
emphasis here should be on business. But, they don't seem to me to
send any more than other organizations, and less than many. "Buried"
would be an exaggeration, in my view. I keep a large trash can near
my chair to take care of all of them. And, I don't find their
mailings nearly as annoying as the inserts that just about all
magazines put in.
All that said, the main benefit, for me, to membership is the
magazine; I use the discounts when needed, but that's not a big thing
for me. I do know RVers - Airstreamers - who go to some of their
rallys (Samborees), and thoroughly enjoy them; I expect that is a
real plus for them.
