The legal width limit in this country is 8.5 feet. Some.states allow 
8.5 feet on all their roads and others don't. But the one thing for 
sure is that any road in any state that uses federal money for 
construction must allow 8.5 width. Snowmobiles are at least 10'or 
more long. In some cases if you remove the skis after loading, you 
may sneak inside the 8.5 mark. That is a lot of work. When we were 
racing we use a modified SOB trailor.We made a steel platform that 
was wide enough for to sleds and droped in the state pockets. We than 
covered it with plywood. And that also gave us lockable storage in 
the box. A simple hardware store hasp and padlock from the platform 
to the tailgate of the truck. When we loaded we found a snow bank 
higher than the platform and when unloading a bank a bit lower than 
the platform. Some of todays machines are are over 4' wide and it you 
may have to back one on. I have had 3 sleds for over 30 years and 
always tryed to use a trailer.I didn't do it because I was in love 
with my trailer, but because we raced on shoe string budget and 
needed to save money. More than once we took a busted sled to the 
only heated place we could find to work on it for next day racing. A
