Hi,
FWIW...in the UK, all trailers have a "jockey wheel" for manoeuverability,
but, by law, all trailers over 750kg (Ithink), also have a mechanically
operated handbrake  located on the A-frame which operates on the axle
wheels to stop the trailer running away when unhitched. (rods or cables)
In fact, that is one of the remaining things to do on my Airstream before
it is road legal........
